[SOLVED] "Drive not Ready" + MPC software crash

Hi all,

Hello to everyone. I'm totally new to MPC and to this forum so please accept my apologizes if the question has been asked before. I searched throught this forum and cannot find a solution. I Used to manipulate other boxes (Spectralis 2, Nord synths, TB303..) but this is my first MPC. Proud to make this choice but ..

Here it my issue : I just bought & install the REN onto a totally fresh installed Win7 64bits. I installed all the drivers but had a timout at this time (tried to disable UAC, then to execute as admin), then I however installed MPC software (1.0 then 1.1 update frim akaiprompc) & banks. When I launch "MPC", an error message says "the drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure that a disk is inserted and the drive door is closed."

Does anyone seen this message before ? And can help me ?

I Found what to do, it was quite simple. Just click a few times onto "cancel" when MPC starts then choose another drive (not A: which is the default) as source for samples.

I'm having this same issue where the MPC software says the drive A is not ready when trying to load it up.

I've tried changing the load drive but still not working?

Can anyone please help?

If MPC Software is installed, and you are getting this error message when trying to open MPC Software to use it, maybe one of the MPC Software File Browser Folder Buttons is set to A:?

Maybe check the 5 Browser Buttons, and if any are set to A:, set them to something else instead?

MPC User Guide, page 55 wrote:To get the most efficient use of the File Browser, set the file path to your hard disk(s) first. There are five Folder Buttons labeled 1 to 5 at the top of the File Browser. Here, you can select up to five locations on your hard disk(s) to give you quick access to your files.

Note: The File Browser does not display irrelevant files (e.g., text documents, spreadsheets, pictures, etc.).

To set the file path:

1. Click the File Browser's drop-down menu. You'll see an overview of your hard disk structure, which looks quite similar to the Explorer (Windows) or the Finder (Mac OS X).

2. Navigate to the desired location. The folder's content will appear in the File Browser.

3. Press and hold your computer's Shift key and click one of the Folder Buttons (1 – 5) at the top of the File Browser.

Now, when you click that Folder Button again, the File Browser will display that folder's content immediately.
