Objectives:

Use only what is provided, nothing else is allowed. (Unless you can scratch !!if you don't then don't ask why ! should be obvious, can't ban an element of Hiphop!)

Structure the best beat you have ever thought of, gaps stops, time changes etc. And when you post explain why you think it is, the way you have chopped something and layered, or getting both tunes to play well together etc.

You must try one technique that you have never gone near in your time of making beats. Again explain your choice and why.

And lastly have fun get into this, you could change your whole week just by being positive from making a beat !!!!

Deadline:
Friday 25th UK time

My new technique is breaking the rules. I got more time so I will do it again, so with out breaking the rules I guess.
I wanted a rocking uptempo beat at first but since it was a moog sample I thought that I will make it an instrument of course. so then that things between drums and bass I guess. And then layer and mute and a few change overs and yeah i got this. Oh and probably first time using certain mastering suit of software to 'trial' and kinda made it really LOUD. . Edit: I didn't break the rules and changed things up and did things kinda different and only added j5 after doing it and that broke the rules then. So i did not break the rules at all till j5 broke in and did that, so i blame them.

So nothing outside except the cuts...
The drum breaks all ran through reaper fx first then into the mpc1000 inputs..(just a light distortion) The rest of the samples went in clean without fx

Using this mixing desk is something i haven't done before... Just had all 6 outputs from the mpc1000 going into the desk.. The kick and snare on the desk i purposely clipped with the gain to destroy it a bit.. all samples came through in the stereo outs into the desk. The bass through one channel which then ran through the dbx266xl for some cheap sidechain sound..

I didn't really use the full drum breaks. Just parts..
The kick is about 5 different layers.. Just using the filters in jjos for each layer.. Using pad simult gives more power over each layer..

Same with the snare, the filters help me isolated what i want with each sample/layer giving me more control over the drums...

Then i just used some hihat hits... With a high pass filter on those to clean it up.

Filters got heavily used on the samples as well depending on what i used it for.. Samples that are melodies have a high pass on them.. The moog had a lp on it and i made a inst pgm out of it so i could play it via midi keyboard. But it was simple anyway probably didn't need to in the end!!

arranged it then printed it to reaper...

Then i cut bill burr talking about gold diggin whores!!
The drops were done in reaper, i like screwing it with reaper and the pitch envelopes.. Better control.. Arrangement wise i didn't really go out of the way i got lazy and just wanted to cut over it !! And just got some eve monitors to test out!!

Here´s my flip. I tried out some techniques in the wav editing, involving reversing etc that i haven't used before.

Hey beat battlers here is mine .
When I was setting up the tempo I had my eyes closed :) ,
and after I finished I have made 11 mixes before I posted it
I was not sure about the bass.Still not fully happy with it ,but I like the flip
so I left it as it is.

Hey, what's up people! Here's my track for Beat Battle 74. I had lots of fun with the battle and the special rules. It forced me to think deeper when creating the beat. What I did different in this track than my usual style is tempo variation and panning.

Enjoy

i was not able to get my scratches in on time. I'm pushing at this point. i figured id be too late already!

any way i used all samples and basically put all those breaks together. i could be stoned but i liked it.
i always bring my own drums. so using four different breaks and chopping up to play together was a first for me. never thought it would sound ok.
