Hi guys,

So, I'm completely new to the MPC. I bought an MPC1000 off a friend for roughly the equivalent of $50, which is a bargain, from what I can tell. It is old and beat up, but it still works. I'm just waiting for the pad sensor upgrades and new side panels before I want to actively start using it.

It's for live use - for the last 2 years I've been using Maschine live - it's basically just to play some sampled synth parts and other samples. Even though I love Maschine and I will continue to use it, it makes more sense to use an MPC live, as it's just way easier than to carry around a laptop, sound card, USB cables, etc and to have to set them up and do a line check. Which can be a problem when you don't have a long change over.

I'm struggling with one thing though - and that is how to set up my programs to automatically load up and be in an order, so that I can just scroll through them from song to song.

At first I thought it was to do with sequence, but that's actually just a record part of music, right?

I've even tried JJ OS to see if that would be easier, but I'm still a bit lost.

Can anyone help or point me to a blog or something that might be able to assist?

Thanks so much.

Got my replacement sensors and your book about two weeks ago. I'm already using the MPC in rehearsals :)

Your book is awesome, thank you so much.

And your quote about "never underestimate your own stupidity" re: saving - it will stay with me forever!

If you need any extra help, check out my MPC School video series on YouTube; there's a total of 10 episodes that can teach you a lot in under an hour. MPC Tutor's books are also a fantastic resource.

This episode should help with understanding programs:

Enjoy!
