EPS Classic

Hey Fam,

After any instrument disk images or OS files you have as .img files that i can use to create disks with omniflop.

I have 2.40 version of OS but it is buggy, would be awesome to get a .img of 2.49 if anyone has it.

Open to swapping sounds.

Tom, I gotta check my external USB floppy or if I need to break out an XP tower I hope the PSU hasn't died in to see if I can image any of what I got here. I got at least 4 EPS discs in my ASR floppy stack. Maybe more, but a lot are handwritten and came with my ASR so I gotta check.

Btw does somebody have experience with, SDCARD HxC Floppy Drive Emulator? Witch model fits with EPS classic i'm little confuced. I'm planning to use ESP with mpc 2000xl, should i get emulator..hmm

I installed HxC emulators in my S950 and my S1100. Both needed the REV F model (http://www.lotharek.pl/category.php?kid=26). Also, both emulators needed a resistor mod before installation (they can mod the thing for you before they ship it for 0.01 EUR).

They really work like a charm, i'll never go back to floppies.

I am not sure what model fits the EPS tho, i would send an email to ask them, just to make sure i get the right one.

Yes, i already saw that video but it is more then 3 years old. In that video, the emulator is clearly external. Maybe there is another model which is a better fit (internal), i don't know.

The emulators evolve along time, check the pictures in this thread (which is 3 years old) for example:

I could be wrong tho... but many things could have changed since that video was posted. Maybe even three years ago, this wasn't the best possible fit, i can't tell...That's why i think it's better to contact them directly. They are the ones who are up to date.

yeah i am also looking into the emulators.

The Akai samplers are not so bad with disks, but the EPS seems to chew through them and create bad disks quite often, a Emulator seems like a must if you want to use one of these like a workhorse sampler.

I made a beat, next day the disk was corrupt, and then even after a re-image it is still no good. Not sure if my drive is on the way out or it is the version OS i am using.

Also if your still looking for a disc image try using the software from HXC to convert a EPS file back from their own 'Get Started collection' of sampler OS images.

Here's the export file types included:

Also I have revision F which doesnt need a resistor mod for the EPS16+, but if the EPS does need the resistor mod just let them know and they do it for free before they ship it! Very good customer service.

The Rev F is definitely a better fit on any sampler needing a floppy drive. It was designed to replace one. Also, i could be wrong but i think the resistor mod only needs to be done on emulators going into Akai S serie samplers. Again, check with them to make sure.

They charge 0.01 EUR for the mod, it's on their site.

I own quite a few samplers, the EPS series is just something special and well worth the HXC treatment.

if you are using the eps classic (not the 16), then you need to be using DD, not HD disks.
they are a little harder to find, but they will work much better.
the problems you are describing sound just like what happens when you use hd disks in a dd drive.
