hey i ordered a 40 pin cable to connect my card reader to my 2kxl and whilt it connects to my reader it does not connect to my mpc. the 40 pins have that one spot where no pin goes in and there seems to be no slot for that on my 2kxl

can someone please tell me what cable i need

also the card reader is very hard to mount so if you have tips i would appreciate that

It is usually just a thin cover over an existing hole, it doesn't need to be connected.

If your cable is the exact cable as shown in the photo above, it seems to be a 40 pin/80 wire cable. I have seen 80 wire cables not work, and have had to use a 40 pin/40 wire cable instead.

You might also want to try different connectors on that cable to attach to the reader, as the blue/black/grey cables are used with cable select, with blue being for the IDE port attachment on a PC mainboard, black being attached to a drive that works as Master, and Grey being attached to a drive that works as Slave.

take an exacto blade and from the side, carve out a notch.. just cut a gap in so you can fit it on... the pin isn't needed, but don't break it off the mpc.
