music theory

unfortuntaley they are gonna have to....no one is talking about learning to read music or taking a jazz primer but by learning about notes, scales, modes, chords, harmony etc will help them out no end.....

Co-sign...I got this book. Its like a pre music theory class. To everybody that want to know the basics of music from chords, to melodies and bass lines to time sigs and notation, this is a good book. Alot of peole dont want to learn music theory because they think they are gona start thinking to much when making music but this book will give a good intro to it all. Once you get this book and read then then i would say get one of the more complex music theory books.

Could you recommend a more complex music theory book?
