Another good one is to take a vocal recording that you have done before, import it into your audio editor and then chop of the "s" from something you said. EQ it a little and add some reverb and voila....you've got a nice crisp highhat.

You could probably make an entire beat with the sounds you get from a SK8 board, you could use some Drum stix and The deck(side sticks), the Wheels(shakers), trucks(Hi Hats), and the Ramp (could be the Kik).

if you want to make an reverb for your kick
then do like this , pitch the kick down to maybe -100 and mix it down very low..
then you just layer that with youre original kick sample ...

aight! Don`t got the Fx board for the mpc? wanna add tremolo?

fluxiate with the master volume control on the mpc .. this works best when youre multitracking .. you know one track at a time ...

a tip for making fake vinyl noise sound good.
if you a broke ass like me and sample from mp3's alot,

sample the end of some old vinyl eq it to get it nice and warm, then cut it up and assign them to be triggered by the rest of your chops, i like putting vinyl pops n clicks right after the snare to grime it up..

- Layer a camera shutter with a snare to make it crack and rumble.

- Record claps, snaps, breathing, banging on tables...

- Stick the mic out your window and record cars going past, people walking by and other shit and mix it real low to get some atmosphere*

- If you have a synthesizer (might not work with a rompler), record "spits" using really fast envelopes and high filter resonance. Layer with your other sounds for some sci-fi feel.

- Turn on the TV and record some claps. Don't gate out the TV sounds in the background. See what happens.

* might not work as well if you live in the country, or perhaps even better, I don't know.

Get a glass jar and fill it with Beans of any kind, great shaker type sounds.

whistle. whistle through different types of material.... sounds especially weird and unrecognizable if record it thru shitty headphones, running thru your mixer.... i call it makin the best of a bad situtation. :lol:

I sample a lot from vinyl - some times I'll just drop the needle and lift it up again real quick at random points on the record - sometimes I do it to a rhythmic. not always, but often, I come up with some good stuff to chop up or loop. I can even do this with records I wouldn't normally sample... (i.e. peter frampton, john denver, burl ives, the list goes on...)
