ZipCD External CDRW Reader/Writer

Has anyone used an Iomega ZipCD 650 external USB CDRW reader/writer in their MPC 60 or 3000 setup?

It was recently recommended to me by someone selling .WAV sounds for samplers on eBay, but I don't know how I would use it in order to get those sounds into my 3000. It seems like NOT the kind of drive that I would need.

Just wondering if anyone has used it. It looks like a Zip drive but thicker and has a CD tray inside.

Because it's NOT what you need.

If it is USB, it can not connect to the MPC60 or MPC3000.

That would make sense, as most 'samplers' these days are SOFTSAMPLERS. There are also some hardware samplers that can make use of a USB CD/RW for loading samples. For example, an MPC4000 or Korg Triton Extreme.

Did anyone claim that the Iomega drive would connect directly to an MPC60 or MPC3000?

You already know that the MPC60/MPC3000 don't load .WAV samples anyway, right?

It just didn't make sense because he knew I was using an MPC 3000 but then he recommended the ZipCD drive, which is incompatible.

I have a DAW but I really wanted to load these sounds in the 3000 and he has sent the sounds on a ZIP disk in the past but he won't do that anymore, for whatever reason.

I've known this but I've used other ZIP disks with .WAV sounds on them and loaded them up on the 3000 just fine, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe they were .SND files.

You can convert .WAV to .SND using computer software (PC/MAC).

There's no other way to get those samples loaded directly into an MPC3000.

Does your current DAW computer have a cd/dvd drive ?
If so you don't need the Iomega
If not you could load samples from CD into your DAW with it and sample them into the MPC3000.
