Audio Through on the 4000

Does anyone know if it's possible to have audio running through the 4000 while the sequencer is running in song mode?

I'm talking for example of plugging a guitar into one of the inputs then switching to the song screen and being able to play along 'with the song'. I know on the 1000 you could do this but the only way I can figure out to have audio running through while the sequencer is playing is in the record screen and that's just one sequence.

There's a work around which would be converting the song to a sequence but then I lose a bit of flexibility. Any ideas?

the only way audio through works is in the record screen.

i have not tried song mode, but i have recorded audio while the sequencer was playing

Meaning ONLY in the record screen does audio go through those inputs.

I'm messing with you man.

It's not an active line input as in the way you are wanting.

For example, asr10 input can be turned on/off in 1 button press to do exactly what you want. Sample/record in or play through (active input) at any time in any mode.

you dont have to record, you just have to arm record.
for instance, I once had a session where i made a beat. Then a guitar player played through the record window while the beat was playing.
you can even effect the input if you want.

i have also used the 4000 as an analog to digital converter in this manner, to utilize the spdif input on sound card.

i am going to pay myself 300$ and shut off internet for 3 months.
an experiment.

Yeah, I get you, I'd just rather be able to put on the FX and then navigate away from the record screen. I'd even take it with a dry signal because I could use pedals to effect the sound going into the MPC. Maybe I'll convert song to sequence and see how it goes, worth a try. I always get a bit stuck on Mute Tracks with that - can never remember the right settings to get it all as you have it in the original song.

Regarding the money, there you go good plan. You'll probably make a ton more music with the time you save too which could eventually make you that $3m.

Before you convert, record the song in it's entirety with the muted tracks into a wave file.

Prior to converting song to seq make sure all the track assignments in the very first song step are the same in all following song steps as mpc only uses the first track assignments when converting.

Prior to converting write down bar count for everything and every sequence so you know where the mutes happen and on what tracks if needed. Document, document document. I know it may get tedious but it's your end result that should match right.

When you listen to your converted seq just recreate the mutes either by programming them in or live mutes again.

This thread is confusing as h*ll. :hmmm:
You can start a sequence or song then hit the Record button to turn the inputs on to play along with the sequence or song.

How is that not what you said you wanted to do?

If you wanted to record the two signals simply put blank bars at the beginning to allow you to start playing at the proper point.
