You can start a sequence or song then hit the Record button to turn the inputs on to play along with the sequence or song.

How is that not what you said you wanted to do?

Can you plug the audio output of a guitar into an audio input of the MPC4000, and hear the guitar audio through the MPC audio outputs, along with the MPC sequencer audio, at the same time, in Main Mode?

I'd go with a separate mixer just for the simplicity. If I was lugging around the 4K anyway, a little 2 or 4 track mixer on top would be nothing.

I took it as moving through modes and doing other stuff while playing through. Can't do that.

As stated before. Only in RECORD is the input active.

Play the sequencer, then hit RECORD (as ADV said), play through is all good.
BUT, no, the second you get out of RECORD, no more input play through, silence.

Agreed, you can get some very small mixers nowdays.

The flexibility of separate sequences. BUT, you can always break that converted song seq, back into separate seqs bringing it back to previous form(s).

So yeah, you lose song, that's about it.

I am totally aware that audio can come through when on the record screen. The point/question I was getting at is, is there another way. If you are playing live and want to be able to manipulate a song or even a sequence WHILE you have audio coming though you'd have to navigate away from the record screen and this the audio through would stop.

There's a lot of 'duh' kind of reactions on this board sometimes, it's jarring.

Only in record screen. That's all you get.

Thank you

No problem.

Sequences give you maximum flexibility.

Song mode is essentially an arrangement tool IMHO.

Converting a song to a sequence can **** your shit up if you're sequences are not set right, NAHMEAN?

Word.

You dont lose shit. Im glad I developed good habits on mpc's. I dont run into the same problems as some of you guys.

Do it right from the start. I would have thought some of you would have learned from your mistakes. Set your sequence up and build off that.
