Hey all, sorry if this has been covered but I cannot find any information about it anywhere. I'm using grid edit mood with the loop feature to step sequence my Micro Brute at the moment. You would think you could switch pad banks to play notes in different octaves but I can't seem to be able to do that with out stopping the sequence and selecting another bank. Is there a way around this or is it just how it is for some strange reason?

I've not tried to use the grid sequencer like that over MIDI but I know that the sequencer behaves strange (coming from Elektron boxes being able to do any/every thing while the sequencer is running) after inputting new notes.

After a while I just got used to inputting new notes and hitting STOP then PLAY + START instantly. Not the best (especially when I'm trying to MPC it up in live jams with a friend or something) but at least it's solid after the notes have been input. They ain't going no where's.

Short answer - I think you're correct in assuming you need to stop the sequencer to input the other Pad Bank notes while in grid mode.

you mean the XL os. It is not in 3 I think anymore so I had to look in the manual and it specifically says that you cannot do this. see here

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2 ... rum4v3.htm
and in blue is says...
Notes
The change of PAD BANK cannot be performed.
Moreover, only an active bank is pronounced.

so no. Does foot switch to bank work. I was sure that worked in that mode but maybe not says the manual.

Thanks for the input you guys. It's a shame that this is not a possibility. It really would feel like a full fledged proper step sequencer if it were. Has the been discussed and asked for on future updates? I'm on 2XL.

well you can use OS 3 as well as it is free for XL users. And did you look at a footswitch as I can change banks in XL in that grid edit window. Might work like OS 3 so give it a go and it might be a solution.

Thanks for the tip I have yet to even look at the differences between os2xl and os3. Is it a big difference? I'll try using a foot switch do I have to change any foot switch options in the menu?

yes obviously you have to go to the footswitch settings and change it to bank select. Well it used to be just select but we got it changed to cycle the bank choice. Forwards and backwards is the choice for the bank cycle setting so every foot switch press goes forward or back a bank, and cycles between all as it loops back to A or D depending.
There is a comparison chart to for the different OSs so check that out.
