Adjusting the Current tempo field

so i'm sampling melodies from my modular, chopping them up and re-sequencing. it often happens that the MPC incorrectly identifies the BPM. Last night I had a piece played at 120 BPM that the MPC called 0.2 BPM. Is there a way to correct the original assessment? Cause i don't want to think of the math involved in working out how I take a 120 BPM sequence, identified as 0.2 BPM and get it to 123 BPM...

You originally sequenced this from the mpc? It kinda stumps me why you're looking for the bpm when you know it already.

There is a button on the MPC4000 labelled "Tap Tempo".

nope.

actually the question goes wider than this. sometimes i sample and no idea of the BPM. but i'd like to adjust what get's noted by the MPC.

i've read the manual, watched the videos but missed a button on the front panel...

You can use tempo detection in SAMPLE - REGION menu. Press BPM, set the number of bars in your sample, and there you go.
