i'm using reaper exclusively, even for live performing. it's a bit of a challenge for that and i'm having to do some hacky stuff, so i may have to give ableton live another go though i really don't want to

i was hanging out with Tor this week and he showed me how he composed in cubase and bounced stems for performance to ableton...that seemed much easier than recreating each project in ableton. i have a quneo so i may turn patch 2 into an ableton controller.

for composing, it's perfect. i still hold out hope that they'll add some sort of triggering matrix for live use, which is more and more what i'm needinng

Yeah Reaper is dope. And I have Ableton and Logic, but it still gets used. One of the best business models in the industry as well.

@nym How are you finding the qu neo? I had one in the shop i work at, and someone swiped it !! I only briefly took it home for one night to try it... Are the 4 zones per pad actually usefull or finiky?

Are you using the sws extension playlist editor? or just smooth seek regions?
I think any hope for a matrix clip launcher in reaper would be in version 5 if they decide to do it...

i love the quneo. it's my drum controller, among other things. i've barely scratched the surface.

4 zones per pad works great! especially in launchpad emulation mode.

ironically, i'll be using the launchpad emulation mode for ableton, even though i have a launchpad that i use for cooler things.

neither...i copy and paste all of my reaper projects into their own folders 1 mega project and use action markers to mute/unmute different song folders. i then do controller/fx stuff as it plays. i'm considering rendering stems down, playing them in ableton (for easier song position/tempo control) and outputting the audio via rearoute and midi via loopbe30 into reaper where my instruments/fx will live.

Ahh Clever. I'm guessing your thinking of ableton live because it's cleaner. And you would have some triggering freedom?
My experience with ableton would never last longer than 5 minutes.. So i gave up on it.

Have you looked at gaida ? I mite give this a go.. I'm pretty sure everything is midi assignable in it. It's free too..

same. i found editing to be an absolute pain. i'm in it for the smooth manual tempo changes and for the clean, quick ability to be able to re-trigger different clips in order to lengthen some of my songs if the crowd is rockin out hard enough. all instruments will still be handled in REAPER.

some prefer reaper, other cubase and other ableton...DAWS are like cars, one dont fit all

commit and stick with one or two if needed instead of jumping from one to the next talked about

@Clint: I've been a Logic user for quite some time now and I also absolutely love Reaper. I use them for completely different jobs though - I record using Reaper when I'm doing location stuff for orchestras/chamber bands/etc. because it will just work 100% of the time. No frills, no anything like that. I get my mix from my board and dedicate to "tape" (Reaper).

Don't really have much to say about it - it just works and that is what makes it sexy.
