Looks like they've massively expanded it since I last used it. I could see those rack extensions being a huge money pit!

A lot of people have been wanting a better browser, more click and drag functionality, and anything else to make it more streamlined. So I'm looking forward to more of a fluid workflow as well. The rack extensions definitely are a money pit. I've been avoiding impulse buys, so that I don't end up buying 5 reverbs because the one that came out after the last was better. A lot of people fall into that trap and complain because they cant sell their REs. I've been more careful and haven't had any buyer's remorse at all.

$129.00 for the update when fruity loops come to mac I might check that out, free updates for life.

The advert is so .. haha I've never got into reason.. Not because it wasn't good. In fact i really like it's foundation and concept. ie the rack.. I just never gave it the time..

A lot of people are saying that the update is a bit steep in price, and there's not much to be said for the ad. Hopefully they left out a few surprises. FL on a Mac with free updates does sound like a nice offer. I should check out the demo. But I really can't wait to beta test Reason 8.

Yep as a reg user, i think you could sign up for the osx beta test... It was a cross over version of fl studio.. Despite that it worked quite well... I didn't really go all out with it but because i have my combo of stuff i use now.. mpc's with reaper...
It looks like the drag and drop feature is the main feature they are pushing.. It does make things alot easier.. Dragging and dropping from anywhere to everywhere...

The drag n drop is gonna be a huge workflow enhancement for Reason. It's in most DAWs, which is why people expect it for free. But that's another story. Reason keeps shaping up to what we all expect, and I'm happy to shell out another $129 when it's ready. The Softube guitar and bass amps are worth the price as well.

Still rockin Reason 4 over here, but to be fair, I rarely rock it.

My thing with reason is if I keep paying for updates and rack extensions, how much will I be paying long term ? Man I wish Akai had that SSL as the Ren mixer, that's the only thing that made me actually pay for reason 7. I think the update price should be no more than $29.00 for registered users, and they'll keep their customer base.

They do keep their customer base.. ive been a paid reason user since the beginning and have been totally happy.. u will never catch me bitching about reason.. like up on here u see cats bitching about akai and running out and handing them more money on a ren or studio. Reason is the shit and stable as ****, end of story!

I do see them crying on their forum,so don't act like its perfect. reason is very stable, but to me the sound is thin. You do a track in reason, compare it to a track done with VST's and the reason track sounds weak. To me they need to tweek the sound engine. I'll pass on this upgrade and wait until they get up to 10,just not interested In paying 129.00 just to drag and drop sounds

I know what u mean about the thin sound maybe in reason 2 or 3 but u can really beef up the sound if it sounds thin, there are so many options,.I havent thought reason sounded thin for quite sometime. For me reason is pretty much the best option, nothing is perfect, but in my book reason is first in line, I hardly go on the props forums unless im beta testing, so whatever, but as a reason user from the start of reason they havent lost me, I was pissed when they made us use a dongle and am glad they stopped that shit, dont think I will update just for the drag and drop, its a nice feature, but my workflow isnt realy hindered using reason..

A mate of mine uses reason... His beats dont sound thin at all.... They sound quite large and epic...
