Thats awesome.
JJos + a mouse = a perfect organism

Nice concept in theory, but in reality it taking twice as long using the mouse then it takes pressing the actual buttons.... Good idea if your tact switches are knacked and you can't be bothered to replace them tho.

I can't really see a practical use for it.

Yeah too many limitations actually.

This concept needs to be pushed forward. As we need a computer to run MPC MOUSE, it should be everything or nothing. By everything I mean the MPC screen mirrored on the computer screen. Everything working in sync, with FKeys on the computer screen. It would launch a MIDI message to the MPC when clicking over these Fkeys on the computer side. Anyway it would be a whole new dimension :)

Don't tell me the renaissance works like that? or the Roland MV8000 if I remember well?

Some state they wanna get away from mouse clicks and then this, wanna go right back to mouse clicks?

Me neither

yeah you can do all this with any old midi controller or device imitating to be one. Not really keen on this.

I was thinking the same thing.

The JJ OS layout is really good already, but there are some menus where you have to click right 3-4 times and then left again to navigate in a circle to something where a point and click would be beautiful.

And as far as the ren doing the same thing,
dont want no ren.

The mouse interface would be optional, maybe for a hardcore all weekend session.
And I'd still have an untethered real MPC.

Yeah that's an important reason why people buy and use MPC's. I think JJ didn't get it. In 10 or 20 years people will still use JJ OS so he'd better focus on what he does the best.

Personally I'd use or even buy a software like JJ sequencer that could render separate tracks automatically. For a beat I'm currently working on, I had to make 30 tracks (3/4 of them are audiotracks). An automated feature could be a lifesaver really.

I agree.

yeah I agree. But then we got the large screen to and you all loved it.
So I can kinda see why the branching out in to other things like this, but this one seems a little out there. I am still trying to decide. Like half of me loves it, the other half thinks its not any good (mainly because I do not use midi to button mode).

I like the idea of the Mouse thing.
I didn't think that was possible.
I've never seen somebody do something like that through midi.

But if your gonna tether to a computer it would probably be best combined with a mirrored screen interface on the computer. Or even a new version of that JJ daw he made. Which would be a whole nother project.
And working on OS3 is probably more important.

Although maybe the whole point is it just being a small side project, at least for now.
I know that just for making beats you need stuff like that sometimes to keep your interest up instead of always working on the same thing.

I didn't know either.
A mirrored screen would imply finding a technical solution and if possible it would be sold by a third party and so on.
To me this MPC MOUSE is a false good idea. For example, if you have dead buttons and want to use your computer with your MPC, just request "MPC KEYBOARD"
I think it would way more flexible. All the MIDI BUTTON functions could be triggered via keyboard, navigation done with the keyboard arrows.
But this kind of software already exists probably, no?

You're right. I think the problem is that he got bored by his own OS. The best thing that could happen for us is JJ and his assistant starting making beats and having fun lol Instead of programming and fixing it :)
