creating electro

waht up fam.
i been on this house vibe tip , well i 've been into house since the 80's but ,right know i listening to this 48 hour winter solstice house music marathon and there playing this electro stuff thats off the phuken hook,
my question is how do they make these ill ass melodies, i can't figure it out, i've been listening and trying to figure out how i can make my melodies sound like that, it sounds so simple , like just drums, hihats, some precussion, and some samples or synth sounds right,
the effects they use sound like a lot of delay for the vocals ,can any one explain to me how they make this sound like this , it 's phuken ill sh!t
oh yea it sounds like they use one shot samples on drums and some times they use a loop, what would you guys recommend for this type of music.

Any analog-style synthesizer should be able to replicate the bass sounds at least. As for the drums, lot's of artists use samples of 808, 606 and other old school drum machines. Tune the toms and you've got yourself a melody (possibly).

i got a super bass station for the bass. (basslines you talking bout right)
are you talkin about an 808 kik drum caus ei have that 808 kit too.
need to get a 606 kit,

the melodie i'm talkin bout is with samples not the drums ,the drums sound pretty simple which i know there not , may i got it confused then ,maybe it samples leading the song is thaT the lead then,
i thought the drums were the ryhtm of a song the melodie was the music that plays within the song

i'm trying to figure out how they make the parts that play within the song they sound so simple yet so complex,


but that digital B you gave me a few ideas.

name an example of what you mean...is it nu-electro or proper old skool underground shit or the sort of stuff dave clarke plays...

i guess it's concidered nu-electro i dont know any names coz i havent been to a record store in a couple years , but i hear it on the college stations it's got a housey acid vibe to it they use alot of delay and reverb , i guess one example would be like "hawke" hardkiss dave clarke is too hard of a sound that i was think of, this electro is very acidy and housey but there melodies are tight,

i may be confused , but i 'm sure there are some of you that spin this style , i've been out of the circuit for a few years now.

classic electro relies on drum machines, one shot samples with analogue and fm synthesizers, new stuff is exactly the same but you'll find the development of production techniques has stepped the game up meaning tons and tons of effects and stuff....a housy version of this style would be felix da housecat and a more electro sound would be the hopuse remixes of say fisherspooner or goldfrapp....

strip it down to just a few elements and start from there electro tunes reluie on space as much as notes so be sparse!

and for electrolash-y stuff try Client their album City .. not the craftiest or most technological, nor has it an underground sound,..
just cool sloppy tunes and well dam is it ever musical> cool melodies... awsome radio krapp at its beast.. do a search.. dunno if its what u'r after but arps might be what your after, they play a big role in 80's music and electrolash music

one word for electro. TR808. although im starting to think more along the lines of the machinedrum as it ventures far beyond percussion and back.
