i was so excited about this thing but it's just not working out..

got it on the 4th of this month, it just gets harsh really fast.

the presets are garbage, im no programmer but i thought i'd be able to at least get some decent sounds by messing with the knobs i knew

its just not working out, i tried but i gotta send it back.

im just using a turntable a little phatty and mpc2500.

im thinking about getting a midas 16 channel mixer in exchange.

i make sampled beats, i like my phatty and i feel terrible that i was actually thinkin about getting rid of it when i got the p08 but it seems to be better suited for me.

after the midas a voyager and im done....

then i get to graduate to compressors and all that good stuff.

what would you do if you were in my situation?

oh also do you think ill have a hard time returning it back to sweetwater since my girl threw the box away? :Sigh:

They'll probably rape you on a restocking fee. I have a p12 and I love it but I'm about to trade it for some elektron gear. If I were you I'd get a multitimbral synth to go along side you phatty. 16 channels of midi delight

If you love why trade it? :hmmm:

Just make sure you give her the bill for getting a proper shipping box made.

You never get rid of boxes, especially keyboard, mixer or speaker boxes.

I bought a virus ti2 polar and a minibrute along with komplete 9 ultimate. I'm looking for a hardware sequencer so I'm tagging it for an octatrack and the sampling Machinedrum. I'll prolly sell the Maschine drum to fund a elektron analog rytm.

i decided to go for the voyager, the sounds i get from my phatty are awesome.

i know its monophonic but for what i do, its perfect.

i just know that it wont be easy to deal with this returning ish.

anybody own one? im going for the performing edition that is 3K.

plus i've gone this long without a mixer its not that necessary, im able to bring a little mackie from my work if i need to.

Should it be, after you have thrown the box away?

The way you guys buy shit just to try out, and then return it, seems strange to me. That sort of thing seems to be accepted as normal over there, never see it happen here.

i had every intention of keeping it, its not like i bought to play with and then take it back.

i paid full price its not like i got it on layaway but yeah i seriously tried to get the hang of it but in the end it just wasnt sonically appealing.

i will have to pay a restocking fee, which is 10 or 15% of the price. :?

im now going to own my dream synth which is what i should've gone with to begin with, just thought i'd give a new poly synth a try.

The Voyager's are 3K Sterling, so if I had a Moog already I'd probably go the extra mile and get the new King in town... the Modulus 002. :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

Yep, if the Voyager is your dream synth that's what you've got to buy.

Hopefully forum member PSR will chime in because he's got the Voyager, Slim Phatty, P-08, modular gear etc.

I'm probably getting the Sub 37 in the next few months, unless a few grand lands in my lap. In the unlikely event of that happening I'll get the Modulus.

Get the Voyager!!!!! I have a Sub Phatty and nothing beats that Bob Moog sound. I just made,I think one of the best 808 kicks I've ever herd. My dad said " take it easy on them walls". You can not go wrong with any Moog. Even that little WerkStatt is sick.

Probably should be shopping for books on synthesis instead of another expensive synth.
When you mentioned the presets are garbage that was a bad sign, who buys a synth for it's presets?

If you have a Phatty that you like but couldn't get the Prophet under control I would say you would be best served with expanding your understanding of programming.

Do the return but let them give you a credit, pick up some books and play around with your Phatty and some free soft synths until you have a better feel for programming.

After that go to a store and start evaluating synths so you can make effective use of your credit from the return.

Just can't understand people telling you to go with a $3k synth when you have already explained you have limited skills with a synth.

You currently have a Phatty and a P8, that should be enough synthesis for days in capable hands.

yeah i know i goofed, thought i'd be different and get a new poly, but the sound just wasnt for me, i made some okay sounds but i need some of that richness that i get from my phatty, there was just something lacking, but yeah im way ahead of you, been doing alot of reading actually have always read about the voyager, always thinking that i'd NEVER be able to afford a voyager, let alone anything moog or even an mpc.

are u sure ?the prophet is such a greate analog poly with deep modulation options. yeah the prests are really weak i don t know why dsi didn t even think about put some nice patches on it.

it s a synth !!!!learn how to create sounds.

you can make fat basses with unison mode or layer 2 different patches .
