new os still not here then?

hi

was following this forum every day for a while when i was considering buying an mpc4000, still might but gonna have to postpone till later next year anyway (nasty taxman decided i owed him some $ boo!)

so haven't been around and ... still no os update then (the one we thought was coming in november)? any news?

What exactly are you expecting from the new OS?

nothing 'exact' rob, very open minded wrt os, there was much talk of some sort of hard-disk recording functionality a while back which would be great but ultimately if you're going to do that properly then i'd say use maybe pro tools le with an mbox on pc or use another hardware box roland vs, korg d, akai dps, yamaha aw etc

so, just curious really

Hi Jim,
Last I had heard (from either this forum, or the DPS World forum) was
that Sean had indicated that the date had changed, and they were expecting to release a beta sometime after Christmas. Now if that's been delayed by the Numark purchase I'm not sure.

I have Christmas ---> Jan 3rd off, so either I'll be learning a new OS
during the vacation, or banging out some tracks. Hopefully,it will
be both, banging out some tracks on a new OS

Perhaps Numark brought in someone else to work on the Operating Systems.

I can't wait to feed my MP with that new OS...There are so much said..I'd like to see it with my own eyes!

Yeah, I secretly hope so! ... I think this OS needs some new brains.
I hope they change the sequencer a bit to. Cause the more I play with it, the more I find this MPC outdated.
Nevertheless, I like working on it

He`s mostly right but it`s not the Numark purchase it`s the development turns out to be more difficult than anticipated. Didn`t want to say anything since I learned at the beginning of Dec, but if Akai finally gets it together it would be a very nice update indeed. If not expect a bug fix. Give them time and in the mean time go old school and learn by the ear. It works every time. Sometimes better than the newer software or function. Takes a little more time but once you learned you never forget.

Hey Reveal I haven`t seen you for a minute. I moved to a new peaceful place near the coast and the muse has been working overtime. I had to get a new internet connection which was down for two weeks until installation fiending because I thought I might miss the update but after talking with Naoya I didn`t had to worry just a little disappointed but that`s life. I learned alot on the MPC the old school way just using my ears until I unpacked my studio gear again and taking long walks to the station. Something about walking, body rhythm, queitness, clean air, and time make the music and beats come faster. Inspiration like I never had before plus time learn music theory more. My download out the studio, net, and a new enironment really helped me. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I was going to get new equipment Digi 002 anyone, but I discovered the music composing studying the masters is much better and that any equipment will do to make music.

AKAI had a lot of complaints about OS problems in the past, Numark knows that and they may want to avoid further complaints. Numark may want to relaunch the web sites with new OS's for AKAI products so that it makes them (Numark) look good.

i HAVE EVERY THING i WANT NO NEED FOR NEW OS

Please Akai, implement a 'move folder' function, it's just blatantly stupid not having such a function on the machine. That's the only new thing I would like to see, because there's no obvious workaraound using only the machine itself.

Not on the machine but I used aksys to move folders. Check the aksys function more since you have a computer or access to one.

As I said, you CAN work around this, it ain't that hard. I use most features in Aksys on a regular basis.

But you really have to draw the line somewhere, and I cannot stand it. there's not even one single microscopic reason to NOT implement such a function. It's just plain annoying.

I mean really. I see this as a great instrument on its own; you simply should not have to have access a computer to perform such basic tasks on it.
