Midi triggering random/cycle samples

Hi,
Does any version of jj os support triggering of random or cycled pads via external midi?
I wish to trigger my mpc from an electronic drumkit, but the random and cycle features only work when you play the pads in os2xl. To work around this I use a pattern in pad stats mode which contains a lot of program changes, which I send out a midi port and in to another. This causes the program to switch between variations rapidly, and so gives a nearly random effect. But it's a royal pain il the ass to create/manage programs for each variation, plus I can't use any other mpc features outside of pad stats mode.
Suggestions welcome!!!

Can't you record those PCs from pads http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/padmode.htm or from other buttons/knobs controller that can send PC ?
a) to seperate tracks, few of them, and trigger with trackmute (with MIDI note works from any screen)
b) play long empty sequence (only with bunch of PCs on few tracks).
c) record hits/notes on their own tracks (not mixed with PCs on the same track for clear editing)

I'm not quite sure I get exac l what you're saying, but the times I've tried putting pc msgs on a track only r sulted in the pc going to the tracks midi destination (nowhere, or the midi outs). I di.nt get how the pc would change the program for the track without actually looping around via a cable.

You don't need a cable /from out to in/ to send PCs to MPC to change programs. It's going internally.

In PAD MODE for example, you can set some of pads or all to send PCs as you hit them. You can record it on a track.
So you just hit rec+ play, bang them PCs to a track from pads, or other controller, while the sequence plays. You don't have to be in Stats mode.

Does your drum kit send on 10 channel only or can you (want) separate drums on MIDI channels? (BTW)

if the JJ options are too limiting, you can perhaps run your kit through a simple Pure Data filter. I made a hardware random MIDI filter for JJOS years ago using Arduino, and it still works quite well for this type of thing.

Like this - I have a midipal (mutable instruments) patched into one one the midi ins/outs that randomises the pads hit within a row.

My 1k is busted right now but does jjos 3.0 still only cycle on live pad hits or does it work on a sequence?
