i was on the hype train very early on, since the namm. really intrigued but sceptical.

now hearing this box it actually all makes sense. as with any trend, akai jumped on the analog bandwagon and produced their own me-too sub 200$ analog box.

and proved in the process that analog can indeed sound like crap.
man does it ever sound like crap. no wonder the video got pulled.

it is sort of poetic - anything this corporation does only highlight how cynical and souless the industry is.

on the other hand - like them or not - volcas exhude attitude and character.
you can really sense the passion that young dude takahashi and his team put into it.

there is certainly more from that camp.
i just wish they finally made something akin to the electribe mx series.

I recently played with one in GC. I would not describe the sound as Sh*tty but I would say it sounded lackluster. And pretty limited as far as sound tweaking is concerned.
By the time some people post some cool mods you can do to this I may wanna scoop one used... Maybe...

I checked those demos on YouTube above, and I can safely say that I won't be interested in that drum machine. Sound is one thing, and that drum machine doesn't look like fun to use. I believe that it is important for any musical gear.
Compare to Korg Volca drum machine, which had a few impressive demos available on YouTube, BEFORE release. They sounded good, and looked inspiring to me.
I wonder what marketing department at Akai doing?

After seeming that video Mr Debauch posted, I'm really disappointed in Akai. But if the machine is easy to mod in order to improve the sound of the drums and stabilize the tuning of the bass synth, I might have to buy one used. I still got hopes of making it sound better.

yeah maybe a mod with a different drum machine replacing the guts of the RW.
