Technics Pitch Fader Problems

I have a pair of 1210s , one of which has recently started slowing in speed whether i slide the pitch fader up or down. So when I slide the pitch adjust up it slows just as it should. However if i slide down to speed up - it also slows... to the same degree as if i had pushed up.

I had a quick look online, and as suggested in a few places have tried giving it a clean in the hope that a contact was not working somewhere but sadly that quick fix hasn't helped.

anyone ever experienced this before ? or even better, got a fix ?

decks are well over 12 years old now. but in good nick and never had a problem like this before.
any thoughts would be greatly welcomed.

It could be a dodgy connection on the pitch fader as there are four wires soldered onto the pitch fader pcb. Have you opened it and had a look to see if the wires are ok?

You need to disassemble your 1200 and calibrate the pitch control.
