Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Hello all.

I've been searching the forums for a solution to this issue, but I can't seem to find one. i've got a feeling I'm missing something terribly obvious, and want to learn why.

Its the standard situation: The stand alone MPC software works fine. Use it as a plugin in a DAW and there's a delay between the hit pad, and the sound coming out my soundcard.

I'm using a motu ultralite MK3, running the latest firmware and software on the MPC studio.

I've tried lowering the I/O buffer size in Logic Pro X, but it doesn't make any difference. Still lots of lag, practically unusable.

Can someone point out the obvious as to what I'm going wrong? Driving me insane slowly but surely, feeling the urge just to run my MPC1000 all the time...

Did you check the latency on MPC software, except for Logic, when running it as a plugin? And on what system do you run the software on?

More than likely, this is OPs issue. I run into it sometimes then say Doh!

do you encounter this latency problem when using another midi controller other than Ren ?

clearly sounds like typical latency issue but i'd also monitor CPU/memory usage to rule out any funk with the system itself

SimoninAustralia: Yep, seems like you got it in one. Didn't know the track had to be record enabled in order for it work....

Forwerd: D'oh.

Konc3pt: Actually, yes. I had a Maschine (still have, about to ebay it), and that had that weird issue with latency whereby you had to switch it into Midi mode, fire off a couple of midi messages into a plug, then switch it back to 'Maschine mode' in order to get rid of the issue (and keep doing it for an entire session. Really annoying). That's what had me concerned to begin with.

But maschine didn't have the right work flow for me, probably should have known better... but you learn. At least I scored the MPC studio for about 30% off, so that's a win. Very happy with a 1000 and studio (and a 500).

Now just to do with the midi latency issue coming from my hardware! Synths are coming in a little delayed. Easy if its rhythmic, painful if its ambient or noise!

All: Thanks for the speedy replies. Really appreciated 8)
