Introducing... "Colour"

I just now found out about this "Colour" business and I gotta say... this could be HUGE.

This is a MODESTLY priced 500-series module that is essentially a series of circuits designed for one purpose: "colouring" your audio signal.

At face value everyone is going to be tripping out about this analog stuff (and for good reason) but keep in mind this project is open-source. Every single "Colour" adapter could build their very own circuits for their very own use. Nothing says that these circuits absolutely HAVE to be analog either - I think there will be some gnarly stuff brewin' once these units start hitting the streets.

I was able to play around with some 500-series stuff a while back ago including some DIY bits. The particular setup I touched was a blast to use and I've been waiting to have a good excuse to go all-in on a humble lunchbox. Think this could be the ticket.

Sounds interesting. I get the technology of the unit, but clueless on the diy part.Talking about the assembly of it. does this come with just the circuitry, that can be upgraded or changed later, or does it come with a housing? Or do I have o come up with the housing? I love it for the price alone, might just be a fun little project to get into.

@Supreme - This stuff is for "500-series" style gear. I really dig the platform... it's like a modular synthesizer but for recording. You would order one of the base units and then add in your own "Colour" chips. Each can hold up to three. There are pre-made kits on the site to build pre-defined colour chips and there are also blank PCBs so you can make your own.

As far as the housing goes - you would use any 500-series hardware. There are chassis for for three units all the way up to 10-12 units out there. This is really just allowing you to sculpt your signal flow, down to the component level if you really wanted to.

Bar-none this is also a perfect gateway drug into the 500-series but also a perfect jumping-off point.

Been looking at it as a future-purchase. As much as I dig my drum OH setup... something magic happens when a ribbon is stuck in the spread. It'd be nice to have one me self to throw in as opposed to borrowing a friend's.

looks real nice. had an eye on these DIY kits for a while now. unfortunately i have absolutely no expirience in electricity or soldering. is this something that is easy to learn? how many hours of work to build these things?
