Wish I had 16 Q-Link knobs on the MPC Studio

i'm just sayin, if the tops are so flat and slippery (i've never used studio), could a bit of grip-tape or something help? it would be cheaper to apply a ring of grip tape to the controller than to buy replacement q-links from mpc stuff (if they are ever stocked).

if you dont care about the look: Get Encoder-heads which u like and glue it on the original ones.....and voila: Bad looking, good working solution

Exactly.Just modify the knobs/encoders to your own design.

Gotta agree with them. Just mod it to be what U want. i am able to use as-is with 2 fingers instead of one but we all have our preferences

The Studio was supposed to have touch sensitive encoders, retaining that it what's important.
Gluing things to the surface of the encoders could/would affect that.

Akai had lots of options that would have prevented this problem, they just didn't use any of them.

Agreed, they are touch sensitive on the studio. Is was going to bring that up also.

is the touch sense the same as the ren? the rens touch sensitivity is for doing mutes in some modes by touching the top of the encoder. i would try putting a ring of grip tape right on the outer edge of the qlinks top. if you cut it with a sharp art knife/scalpel you could get a nice thin line which i imagine would give enough grip, leave the middle of the qlink free for the touch sensitivity feature. it might even look good, each of them having a black outline.

The tops are touch sensitive, when in sample edit the software focuses on the encoder that you tapped. Not sure about muting etc...

They should give you flexibility to have start and end trim-ability on the same row in sample edit.

How does the touch sensitivity work on the mpc? normaly, its simply the electrical behaviour of the human body, which lets the electronic know, that you are touching.
On the ren, there seem to be heads out of metal, at the studio (just disassambled to see) it seems like there is some kind of chrome on the plastic to make electrical connection.

if i am right with this, there shouldnt be a problem ....just take knobs like on the ren. and make a electrical connection between the metal head and the studio encoder....
