This might seem dumb.

Wuts good everybody. THis may seem dumb. But when you go digging do you just grab some records or you go in there looking for specific records. I wanna get into digging more. I just found a record shop not to far from me. The only other place i got records from goodwill and for free. So i dont really know about buying records. Thanks

usually i got some stuff in mind that i have heard on the radio ,or some tune that i know the artist, another thing just search for certain decades;
it's all on you, if ulike some cover that catches your creativity cop it then u digg.

Do they let you listen to stuff in this store, it's usually gonna p*** the shop dood off if u wanna listen to piles of stuff but if they have a listening booth, problem sorted.
If its tunes for listening pleasure then you really need to either know what ya lookin for or have a good listen in store. If its just for sampling then hell the world is ya oyster...... have fun

diggin is a way of life potna, I started out kidnapping all my family and friends vinyl, shit if they aint no DJ they dont care most of the time no body even has a turntable anymore, its like ya doing them a favor. check the local thriff (hope I spelled that right) shops, you know little run down stores that sell old clothes and funiture, I've come off good in those stores. I also brake for yard & garage sales, 1 time got 2 crates for $4.00. Its a scavenger hunt dog I sniff'em out, dont have my favorite oldies record shop no more they went outta biz years ago, and I wasn't even around to try to hit'em up 1 last time
but lastly take everything I dont care what it looks like take it, any genre, any year,any size, any speed, any condition....... you never know

to add if your like me...always take note of the artists u sample, and your favourites types of sounds. Look at tunes names what instruments they play, who are the artists on them u get an idea of that it might be like cause u know there previous stuff, but never be afraid to buy some unknown stuff, ask the guy who owns it and say to him have u got anything that has this type of sound (what ever the sound is your looking for) I did that once and when home with about 30 pieces of vinyl each one them had a break i could use!

Goodwill, Salvation Army and other thrift shops are VERY
GOOD when starting Also Try Pawn Shops or Garage Sales
and don't just try the obvious stuff ........This is the Cheap
