Can i use my Z4 sampler to fix mpc 4K ?

Guys ...

I have a problem with my MPC 4K, any RAM i install doesn't seme to work ... ( long story tried everything ...)

Anyway i plan to swap the motherboard out with my Akai Z4 mother board in order to fix the problem?

Will the Z4 Motherboard work in the MPC4K
will it work

do they look the same? then of course it will!

I dont think it would work, But i am interested to know for sure?

so you tried your Z4 mem. in your MPC4k and that DID work?
(before swapping whole motherboards... and establishing your motherboard is really the culprit)

Can you access the on board 16MB without any memory modules installed?
Can you play any audio and if so what does the audio sound like? scratchy..etc
Try cleaning the ram slot

So i tested the RAM in my working Z4 rack with several different types of RAM, which all work fine!!
I then removed the CPU board (only)from the z4 rack and replaced it with the MPC 4k CPU board.
And when i fired it up the MPC i got the Z4 O.S appare on the MPC using half the screen!!

CRAZY !££$$@£$!@£

So i guess you cannot swap akai Z4 CPU boards around cos when you think about thats where to OS is installed. So if I did try a Z8 CPU board i'd get the something.... The Z8 OS would appare instead of the MPC's OS.

RAM slots are defiantly faulty, everything else is 100 % Kool !!

the CPU board with the memory slot is very hard to come by. I searched about a year until someone was parting out their MPC 4000. No one sells these on a regular basis.

i have a working but ratty mpc 4000 ill sell for $600 plus shipping from detroit to anywhere... buy mine and combine the best parts and part out the rest

oh yeah it has max ram and a silent fan (new)

oh yeah and the screen is fully working (no lines)
