I've been recording efected sounds and other memory heavy type samples.
And I agree it is a bit backward.
I'l get a desk at some point.
What do you store your beats on ?
I have an mpcstoragesolutions external hard drive, but I still back everything up onto floppies because i'm paranoid about it crashing some day. i also have a bunch of stuff saved on jaz discs but ive gone through two jaz drives already and they don't seem reliable. I basically trust floppies only. although i wouldn't mind using an sd card if i had one for the 2k classic.
lately though i've been recording everything into logic anyway so it's saved there as well.
i recommend recording 2 or 4 bars of your bass lines at a time. that way when you save you have your bass line spread out into multiple samples that each fit within the space of one disc.
