MPC 1000 Midi track recording.

I just got a used mininova synth. Ive never really used midi before. I have everything connected right. I am getting sound and everything is recording right but...

My question is... How can I get more then 1 sound recorded in the mpc using my synth.

Ex. if I record on track1 and Im using a bass sound on the synth, then go to Track 2 to get a Pad/strings sound. it will let me rec. it but my bass sound will turn into the pad/strings that was recorded on track 1?

You don't, it is mono-timbral, meaning it only plays one patch at a time.

You need another synth to play different sounds simultaneously.

If a synth is multi-timbral, then you can play multiple patches at once, in some sort of performance mode, where you assign different patches to different MIDI channels, but you can't do that on a MiniNova.

Once you have the midi sequence playing how you want on the synth, sample the audio from the mininova into the MPC and sequence the sample on a different track. Mute the midi channel with the bassline in case you want to change it or run it later for live tweaks.

^^ yeah, sample per note or use loops/audiotracks for whole lines and just play them back while recording new MIDI track with new patch, eventualy you can chop up your bassline, preferably in automatic fashion (it will give you that non-precise timing like you cut with no waveform view.. seriously)

Word up. Ive sampled synths into the mpc. I like doing that but some of the sounds I sample are L/R so If i end up sampling to much Stereo some of my tracks will mute themselves out.

Set some sounds to monophonic, otherwise you won't get far. Look in the Akai manual for: Setting the overlap of the sounds on the same pad (voice overlap)
