Anyone successfully (slaved) ableton live 9 to the MPC Ren

Anyone successfully synched (slaved) Ableton live 9 to the MPC Renaissance stand alone?

I have tried these steps with no success:

On the MPC Renaissance/Studio in Standalone mode:

1. Launch the MPC software. Open the MPC Preferences.

2. Click on the Sync tab on the left hand side of the Preferences window. In the Send dropdown box select MIDI Time Code(MTC).

3. In the To dropdown box select AkaiPro Internal MIDI. Close the Preferences window.
Launch Ableton Live.

4. Open the Preferences and select the MIDI Sync tab on the left hand side of the screen.

5. Under MIDI Ports enable the Sync button for AkaiPro Internal MIDI. Exit the Preferences.

6. Click on the EXT button in the top left hand corner of the screen. Press play on your unit. Ableton Live will now be slaved to the MPC software.


I have checked my settings and still cannot get it to start Ableton, not seeing any midi signal going in to Ableton live. Can anyone help?

I have checked out the video Dan did on MIDI MAP Mode - anyone get this to start and stop Ableton live - I am missing something here?

Sorry, you're doing something wrong. You need MC instead of MTC.

1. Open MPC Software & Ableton Live in any order.

2. Open MPC preferences, select "Sync" tab:
* Send: MIDI Clock
* To: desired source (in my case: IAC Bus 1)
* Device Control / MIDI Machine Control (MMC): Send
* Frame Rate (just because I can): 25

3. Open Live's preferences, select "MIDI Sync":
* Search for the corresponding Input (in my case: INPUT IAC Bus 1)
* Highlight SYNC
* Close Preferences

4. Select EXT in Live's transport section.

5. Press play in MPC Software.

6. Watch it running.
