Q: How do I link my audio files to protools ? I thought that if I load recent sessions my old session with all my sounds would appear .. apparently not .. I see all of my files on Task Finder via Protools but cannot find out how to reload my audio files .. Can anyone help ? :Sigh:

When you create a new Pro Tools session, it creates a folder for that session, a Pro Tools session file for that session within that folder, and an Audio Files folder for that session within that folder.

When you record audio into that Pro Tools session, it creates audio files for that recorded audio within the Audio Files folder for that session.

After you have recorded audio into that Pro Tools session, you save the Pro Tools session, so that the links within the Pro Tools session to the newly recorded audio files are included within the Pro Tools session file.

If you have recorded audio into a Pro Tools session, and saved that Pro Tools session, then it should load up exactly the same when you reload the Pro Tools session.

Things can get messed up if you are copying the Pro Tools session, and do not copy the whole folder structure containing the Pro Tools session and the audio files folder containing the audio files for that session, or if you import audio files into that Pro Tools session, from other locations on the computer, and it does not save those audio files into the Pro Tools folder structure, and they are then moved or deleted before the Pro Tools session is reopened.

It is important to know where the audio files for the Pro Tools session are actually located, when you are moving/deleting/etc. files. You can check that by choosing Show Full Pathnames (or whatever the option is called) in the dropdown menu from the Region/Clip browser on the right side of the Pro Tools Edit window, which will show you exactly where the audio files that are contained within (actually linked to from within) the Pro Tools session are actually located on your computer drives.

You probably need to give more details about what you did originally, what you did in-between originally creating those Pro Tools sessions and when you are now trying to open them, exactly what the problem is now, etc., as your question is maybe a little vague about exactly what the problem is, and what you have done to create it.
