Jake One on making "3 Kings"

This is super refreshing . I'm getting tired of the era that Ableton and laptop producing has brought about w/ over processing . I know a lot of these new producers who brag about running their beats through 20+ filters and sh!t and to me that's all bullsh!t .

I secretly follow him and all his crate digging buddies on Instagram just to eye what they dig for.

They seriously dig for records like MONSTERS and have opened my eyes to plenty of shit I would of never picked up before or have bothered to listen to.

true. also though there is a difference between making a beat and mixing a song. i wouldn't be surprised if someone at aftermath went into the session and did a master mix.

No doubt they did. Also, towards the end of Jay's verse, you can clearly hear some strings come in. I wonder who did that.

has anybody checked out that vocal eliminator he's playing with?

Its the Thompson VE-1 I believe. Thinking about picking it up and playing around with it, there doesn't seem to be too much on the units via interwebz or youtubes.

He makes all those behind the beats look so easy. A lot of time not much to the tracks either. Always a good watch too.
