I don't understand the kind of "Stockholm syndrome" here...The bigger the time we are waiting for the bread the more enthusiastic we are with the crumbs?
Really (in fact, all of us know it, even AKAI people), this is only the MINIMUM that should be expected at the moment of this kind of product-line launching, and not the so awaited and desired 1.7 (seven!!!) version...or "the great white hope" 8during last 4-6 months).
It is completely intolerable this kind of hype/self complacency with things that should be there a lot time before..., based also in the historical pathway (the JJOS rescue memory, the adandon the ship policies, the weaaak flagship product development...) with such functions that are a must in a 2014 DAW or soft proposal...it's frustrating and a huge shame, for them, but also for us.
Yes I know I'm the killjoy today, reading the news and notes you finally and at last (?) get excited...but, really? exploding tracks is our revolution and reward? (a function that is part of all the DAWs, for example in Reaper (for 50$ or free) since...2000?). Drag & Drop as a great improvement? Read/rec out-midi from tracks into a DAW? copying pads? Scrolling or editing in a proper not shamefull way for 2014 computers (or even in 1995 mice) ? Can we be soooo hapy? Seriously? W. T . F. !!!??
Even paying for a hardware, we are not allowed (after 7 revisions!!) for using this hard piece in a proper way (without the silly shamefull VST loading!) as an "independent" configurable controller with whatever other soft or function into our usual DAW(s) and with other plugins (at the same time or not!!). Versatility is one of the main words in any industrial process for XXI
Come on guys...AKAI MPCs modern line should be providing quite more than the "N-esime hiphopish clone-cliche consumer object with the adequate marketing glow image" (especially taking into account that it was the Competence who show you the way of making things from your craddle in the market!...and definetely you should be able to up the ante, not being capable of even matching it).
All this is a joke. I don't give a **** about the typical outlandish ideas that justifies this kind of policies limiting the hard functions and compatibility in products of 400-900 euros??!! with ridiculous and byassed integrist closed minds fanboy POVS, regarding antipiracy or some similar bullshit. If you try to coerce me to buy different products from the company for 3 or 4 simple functions...the probable result will be that I will sell this one and never again buy anything from you. I will conserve only the 1K because of nostalgia and classic portable usability...only thanks to JJOS.
WE, the consumers of their products have the rights and must be the most critical with some unacceptable issues and strategies that only limit and cutoof the experience of the proper clients, without any reason.
I don't want to belittle the personal efforts of the staff involved and their time invested in giving us at least a worthy version for the product, 2 years later..., but criticize openly the company strategy and product lines filosophy, supoort, and real competitivity.
I'm sorry, but for the mainstream hype, there are a lot of opinions and claps here...some one else has to say other kind of things. Or not...so I'll say bye bye Akai.
