BASSLINES?

i cant make a f)@&ing good bassline? can anybody help me out, or give a few quick tips on how i should go about doing this??thanks

your question is a vague one. Are you talking about playing and composing a bass line or creating one using the MPC and bass samples?

sorry, i mean creating one using the mpc and samples...i just want to be able to have a regualr nice sounding, hard hitting bassline

most my basslines come form outside synths ... but i've used "16 levels" on some good bass samples with very good results ...

try tuning down tom drums and tweeking the other parmeters cymbals tuned dowm can work too !!!

i would suggest sampling a bass hit with a decent about of UMMPH after you hit it so it could sound longer, 16 levels and mess with the lower row of pads, i get pretty good combinations doing this

If you have SoundForge.

Create a Sine Wave and Square wave at 220hz (that is a C note) Pitch shift them down about 2 octaves.. Over lap them...Drive it hard through a External mixer and generate some generous distortion....resample it into SoundForge....Set your loop points for smoth looping (see Mpc-tutor tutorials) load it into your MPC....Apply some filter to get rid of the highs.....set a sharp attack time....done..

pitch shift by different amouts for different notes...

which synths have the best basses for basslines?
I have a triton and jv-1080 and still want mmore for basslines......althought i must say....i barealy use the jv-1080(so if you know of good basslines on here, let me know)....

It would be nice to know which sound you're aiming for, but I think both the triton and the 1080 should have some more than usable bass sounds for most dance/groove based styled, esp if you do some/heaps of eq/compression massaging.
