Against my better judgment I decided to upgrade last night. I tried to load a few projects, A few 1.6 projects fully load but crash as soon as I hit play.

Never had that happen....

Going back to 1.6

Also, what file does this " project backup copy go too"?

Anyone know?

Goes to the project data folder. What do you have in these crashing projects?

Just reverted back and everything is fine again, maybe the beta testers only used Apple devices

Does it actually create a backup?
I get the message that it is going to create a backup copy then when it tried it eventually says it was unable to create backup, but does still load the Project.

I'm on win 8.1, none of the problems mentioned by other users, just some audio glitching when I try to use locate: end on the hardware transport to move into a different sequence. I've loaded up a bunch of 1.6 beats with no problems... look forward to finishing them off on 1.7

Ok, by the process of elimination I found out my 809 expansion is corrupt some way and I soon as it's triggered my software locks up. This may not be a 1.7 issue....

I will do a fresh install and see what happens :?

* UPDATE*

Problem solved for this one project it was corrupt

So what is recommended here? A fresh install for 1.7 or its ok to upgrade it from 1.6 to 1.7 or should i wait for 1.7.1.

I downloaded all the files but had not a chance to upgrade due to illness.

This is a bug related to Extension Browser behavior. When the browser is full with extensions to more than the half, the extensions of the bottom always go down when opened.
It is hard for me to explain it in english.
The top ones open and stay in their place and when a sample or program subfolder is opened they still stay in place.
I know that extension that I have are not supported but I think it would happen even with only official extensions if they fill the browser up.

I've upgraded directly from 1.6 to 1.7, Without any problem. I first insatlled new drivers, then software, and finally New Synth and Extensions Updates. No worry for me on Win7 X86.

Wait... You just quoted yourself and found that funny? FAIL. ;)

Seriously now, I reproduced the plug-in => none error like a million times now, although it's past me why I'd want to do that. CONFIRMED.

New mixer design is confusing at least, but hey: at least there's a new manual explaining stuff. It's confusing at first, but once you get it, it's obious. NICE.

Other than that, running stable & fine on two OSX systems. Big ups!

And BTW: Thanks Pete for commenting! I do appreciate that a lot.

I'd recommend windows users to try uninstalling the Ren driver and reinstalling it. When I upgraded through the prompt the first time the driver installed incorrectly and the window froze, but the launcher window indicated that the driver had correctly updated. When I launched 1.7 I was getting extremely buggy behaviour, uninstalling and installing the driver from fresh fixed it up...

Also if you have usb 3.0 ports, there are major glitches that can occur while the drivers for usb 3.0 are active. If possible you should go into your computer bios and turn off any usb 3.0 support/drivers.

Good info, thanks.
