Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

On 1.6 I would build my songs up by copying sequences and adding and deleting tracks as and when , this work flow seemed all good for me, on 1.7 I don't seem able to flow in this way, this could be a good or bad thing but I would appreciate any feedback on the best way to create on 1.7.

Thankyou in advance!!!!

Cheers.

I don't understand what is stopping you from doing this in 1.7, I made a beat yesterday with no problems working this way, and I just opened up the software to make sure i'm not tripping and made 1 program, overdubbed some pad stuff, copied the seq and added a track, then copied that seq and cleared the track via the hardware (i hit the window key while the track number was selected, hit clear, do it) and it worked fine :hmmm:

He's probably referring to the global association that now exist, causing a change to be applied across sequences.

I'm having the same exact issue with sequencing. It's driving me crazy. Worked like a charm in 1.6 and below, but with 1.7, no dice... I copy sequence 1, and make sequence 2, and when I add a track to sequence 2, it effects sequence 1. WTF?

Wait, you are saying that adding a NEW TRACK to SEQUENCE TWO adds a NEW TRACK to SEQUENCE ONE?

EDIT: To answer my own question, it does not do that for me.

The mixer is global now. Any edits that you make at the program level affect all sequences that use that program. If you want to have individual edits per sequence, copy the program to a new one and use the newly copied program on a new sequence.

I'll give that a try. And yes, for example, I'll have say 21 tracks total. I have like 19 of them muted to start song I'm crafting as sequence 1. When I would copy that sequence and make sequence 2 in 1.6 and earlier, it copied exactly like it does in 1.7, however in 1.7, sequence 2 changes (unmuted tracks) also change sequence 1. I'm not sure if that's the correct way to craft a track, but it's worked great for me the past few years using Song Mode...

I assume you mean my list of 8 options in Edit Sequence? If so, what option? Copy Bars? Copy Track? It still shows option 5 "Copy a Sequence", but I have the issue when attempting option 5 like I described...

In MAIN MODE, highlight the sequence WINDOW -> Copy Sequence
in MAIN MODE, highlight the PGM WINDOW -> Copy

I'm not sure what your wanting me to do. The only thing I can copy in Main Mode in the Sequence Box, or Window, is the name of the sequence, or export that sequence as a .mid file.

Why would that process of of "option 5" in the Edit Sequence window be changed in 1.7? I'm confused, and have been stuck with this project I'm unable to sequence for a day now...

My instructions are from the hardware

From the software, right click the pgm-> duplicate

On hardware, click window button when in the sequence field: you can copy a sequence just like before.

I've had the Ren for about 2 years, I am either blind, or I do not see that option on the hardware. As for the software, I used 18 different programs and used sounds form each of those programs to craft all my 21 tracks. I'm still not understanding what program that is even right clickable. I'm lost my friend...

Again in 1.6 and earlier, I would normally mix all my levels with all of my tracks (21 in this case) playing at once in the Track Mixer screen. Once that is done, I mute all the tracks except for a few I want to use for this first sequence, now I'd have the first sequence I'd use in Song Mode. I'd copy that sequence in Main mode via the Edit Sequence screen and choose option 5, "Copy a Sequence". I would then go to that new sequence in the Track Mixer screen again, with this new sequence. I'd unmute a few more tracks I wanted to add to that next sequence and so on. Now in 1.7, the whole process works except for now, when I add changes to that second and new sequence, it changes it on the first sequence too. Is there a way to turn that feature off, or is it a bug? Whats a global mixer? Is this the cause?

Thats another way to copy a sequence, but thats not the problem for me. The problem is when I copy a sequence, in any way, when I go from sequence to sequence on the Track Mixer page, I mute or unmute a track to be the next part of the sequence, it changes all the other sequences too. This just started on 1.7. Worked fine on 1.6 and earlier...
