Turning off Global Mode on 1.7?

My former workflow is gone with the 1.7 update. The way I used to copy sequences and mute and unmute tracks no loner works. Is there a way to turn this feature Global Mode off, or a way to reinstall 1.6? I've been stuck with this problem now, and I'm pretty upset...

Bad way to look at it.
Duplicating Programs is not a well thought workflow, it's similar to if they would have gotten rid of NDC.

It creates a level of redundancy that goes against productivity.

It's the only way I was aware of. I'm still a bit confused on the new process, and with the software update being so new, I've had trouble finding in depth enough help to make a successful transition. As I'm sure you can imagine, it's pretty frustrating when you had a solid workflow, and now it's not an option. I'd love to adapt, but very confused...
