installing a CF reader on my 3k. help!

i want to install a CF reader on my 3k via scsiback port- but can't find cables/ cord adaptors anywhere.
so far, i've got the card reader: a dexlan ide-cf bridge to be installed as at the front in place of the A disk reader. I've got the conerter scsi to ide, an acard arc760. which fits well into the ide cf reader. trouble is, i can't find the cord to connect the converter to the scsi port. what i'm looking for is a DB25m to IDC50f with enough lenght to link them Ok. help! help!

I don;t think that is what your looking for. DB25 is normally for external connections, not internal.
With an internal CF reader you connect to the MPC's SCSI board, not the SCSI port on the back of the MPC.
If you want to still use the SCSI port yo have to get an adapter that allows 2 connections.

i don't necesseraly want to use the scsi port, i'd rather get direct from the scsi board to the CF (i would then need a scsi db26 fem to IDC50f), but it would be ideal, you're right! do you think i can find it?

I think they want to reroute the external DB25 connector to an internal IDC50 connector, it is a common way to provide an internal SCSI connection.

Normally a DB25F to IDC50 adapter is used, along with a DB25M to DB25M gender changer, and an IDC50 to IDC50 ribbon cable.

The DB25F to IDC50 adapters are getting harder to find.




Stratos Technology/Artmix is making adapters for the MPC3000 now to make a cleaner internal SCSI installation than the adapters above, but at $48 plus shipping, they might not be the first choice for someone looking to do it on a budget...

thanks for your reply. As I'm having to have the work done by someone else which is a professional, i can't do the cabling and soldering stuff myself, i was going for the second option -which would cost a bit but probably no more than to have it done by a pro. i sent the firm an email cause i can't really tell if the specs are right by looking at their pictures. Now awaiting for a lucky answer!
