I have not found very much on here as far as the Element goes, so maybe someone could help. I have MPC element and use Sonar x3 on a 64 bit, windows 8.1. When I first open up Sonar and try and put MPC in for the first time, it tells me that one instance of MPC is already on my machine even though it is a new session at that time. So what do I have to do to get it to work in my DAW. Any help is greatly appreciated. :P

Not sure if it does, I would only be using it for the most basic purposes, not having multiple instances. I just want to run one, not many.. Could it be the version I installed 64/32 bit or something like that ??

I moved your thread to the actual REN software subforum so that you'd get more visibility and hopefully answers.

Are you using MPC ESSENTIALS? That allows multiple instances not the main mpc software.

I noticed that when I pull up the vst from my list it only shows MPC. not MPC essentials. This was yesterday when I received the 1.7 update which includes the Hybrid vst. Do I need to reinstall or is there a shorter way to fix it ???? Thanks again for the quick replies, I'm definitely looking forward to using Hybrid in Sonar if possible :P

Mpc Essentials is the only one that allows multiple instances. Download the software from akai pro and it will install along side with mpc 1.7.

If you have a unlocked 1.7 with the element then you don't even need to use essentials.

Ok, I am not sure, but installed the 1.7 yesterday which prior to that I have 1.6 so I believe it was just the update and not a first time install. I did check and when I installed the update location for 64 was program files and 32 was for program files 86. If I reinstall the whole program where should I point the locations to with reference to using both 32 and 64 as I have both in my VST'S. And I know in essentials you can use more than one instance, but I only want to use just one to make it easier. Thanks again for the major help, :-D

MPC Element comes with MPC Essentials, not MPC Software.

I think you need to have an MPC Renaissance or MPC Studio to use MPC Elements with MPC Software.

The 1.7 update is for MPC Software, not MPC Essentials.

oK , now I am really confused because when I went to install the update I got a little box that gave me the options to update the driver, software, and I believe studio and elements. So i chose all but the studio option and I got the update with no problem and can see the release notes as well as when I open the GUI in standalone it is the new version. Previous to 1.7 I was able to open MPC essentials in my DAW ( SONAR X3 ) and all worked great, but don't know what happened with 1.7. The main issue is still the error message saying more than one instance of MPC is running on your machine. :)

In standalone mode without sonar. Open up your mpc program. Go to about us or about program and report back to us.

Ok when I open MPC, i get the box in the middle that says version 1.7.0 ( 64 bit ) and my name at the bottom. Not sure what else I am looking for. If I need to reinstall then someone list the proper steps so that I can use it in 32 and 64 mode in sonar x3 with only one instance. And an additional question is how can Hybrid be used as a vst in Sonar x3 to record in it instead of inside Mpc. Thanks again for the super help so far :)

Hybrid is part of the mpc program, unless someone hacks it.

Sounds like you are using the main mpc renaissance software. That's only one instance. Can you change tracks? Like have track 1,2,3 etc....

Did you ever have renaissance or studio before?

No i have never had any other MPC. I bought this element from Guitar center and was using 1.6 up until yesterday when 1.7 became available. I am thinking on a fresh install, but just need to know how to do it properly as if it were the first time. With clear instructions on the 32 and 64 bit locations for MPC. and using essentials in Sonar x3. Thanks :)
