1.7 Blew my **** speakers

They are vintage 80s Technics speakers.
Blew the tweeters on both.
I run a 2011 Macbook Pro running bootcamped Windows 8.1 x64
The laptop connects to an RME Fireface 800 with latest drivers (which has been nothing but 100% perfect since day 1, RME knows their shit)
Brand new project nothing opened other than a track or two of hybrid, and it crashed emitting a loud buzz / fuzz / digital clip that took the tweeters out in a few seconds!
Can't even find replacement tweeters online.

Seriously how you can sell audio production software that crashes with nothing else, not one single other plugin installed etc is beyond me.
I know they won't buy me speakers but seriously fix the **** software and let me beta test to make up for blowing my shit.

Yo, That Hybrid3 Plug-in is sick. I f***** love it. Upgrade to some new monitors man. Those vintage joints are for listening to some good music on.

Uh I have Event monitors...Im glad I wasn't running through them at the time, the Technics handle quite a bit more pushing..

If you apparently experienced this fuzzing "every time" you switched presets, why did you continue doing so? If I'd experience that, I'd a.) stop using the plug-in and b.) check whether anyone else has the issue.

I'd suspect those speakers run on a level of -10 dB(V), which are DEFINATELY not suited to handle the +4 dB(U) level of the Ren's outputs. That's actually like putting an elephant into a car... Different resistors, different levels of mass, different BANG.

Not to be an ass, and i know this ain't helping…but using speakers from the 80s as your monitors may not be that clever.
I'd carefully guess the tweeters of modern monitors would handle peaks way better than those that are some 30 years old.

He did say he was using a RME fireface and not RENs outputs

True so, but we still don't know what the specs are of his "vintage 80s Technics speakers". What was the dB output, voltages/ wattage? All these details are missing.

Why anyone is trying to debate against me is beyond me.
The software glitches and outputs a high level clipped signal that can easily blow speakers.
There is no contesting that fact.
Why would I continue to operate the program after I heard glitches? Because I spent $1299 on it and it has been largely unuseable in the past 2+ years due to missing features and bugs. I was merely 15 minutes into using 1.7 when it blew my shit.

I don't run the Ren's outs into the Technics, its from the FF800 to a monitor control that switches from Event's to Technics's to B&W's which thank **** were not active at the time.
If it happens to anyone else, yank the firewire cable out of the computer immediately and the noise will stop..It has happened a few times since using only the Ren, Hybrid, and Aly James Lab VLINN. My tweeters are already gone so I've been running only through the Technics.

No one really cares what speakers were being used it's not the real point.

What is important is what Hellfire pointed to whether or not the noise was actually caused the MPC software or some other aspect of his particular setup?


So it would be more realistic to focus on the specs of the computer, any other peripherals attached and what software was in use at the time.
Since you say it has happened a couple times you should be able to determine what's the root cause to be.

I have seen what you are describing happen to people using other devices because of a bad USB cable, faltering USB power from the computer, inconsistent power to hardware or even because of a clocking error just to name a few.

The other day, I was making music on my laptop, having it on my lap.
I happened to move a little, and it shifted a bit on my lap, causing the (long) Thunderbolt cable connecting my laptop to UAD Apollo Twin to come off for a split second, which was enough to break the connection. This was soon followed by a very high-pitch BEEEEEP. It was pretty loud. I was only having my headphones on, and it's hard to estimate how loud that would've been coming out of my monitors, but I didn't have them on.
Maybe the OP experienced something similar.
