MIDI CONTROLLERS FOR MPC REN A POSSIBILITY?

This would take the Ren further into the 'live tool' category if you could add some midi controller and set it to control whatever parameters you wished within the Ren software.

Look at this video for an example of what I mean.



I'd love for this to be capable with the Ren as I could control volume faders and some pitch controls with an external controller while the q links are dedicated to filters and send controls.

Is this possible with the Ren?

ive been wanting to get into playing live on my mpc..just for fun and to get better over all...

i just dont know how too..

and there isnt many videos from what ive seen..

so i dont know where to start ;(

You can do some of this on a 1k with jjos - but really just the track mixer & mutes plus master fx & whatever assigned to the qlinks. More sonic hacking via a kaoss pad.
That's what I use: midi knobs, mpc front panel & kaoss pad 3.

I think that elektron's interfaces got too cluttered after the machinedrum. Too many shift functions etc. Same with NI Maschine.

So no one seems to know if this is a possibility with the Ren?

ive seen a few live videos..but i dont know much..hopefully it does get really good..so there is more videos/information on this..cuz i realy wana try the live stuff

Lemur on my ipad would fit perfect to my MPC Studio....

If there was a way of finding what cc numbers could control the faders and solo/mute buttons then we could set something up ourselves.

Or possibly use OSC if that was included in a future update?

Any which way the capability to control functions in the ren from an external controller would turn it into something quite amazing as a live performance tool.

I don't think it is at the moment, would have to be written into a future update.

They would have to work out some sort of process so that the user can choose that incoming CC messages control the MPC Software mixer, and not be passed through to any plugins.

I'd love to be able to do this, but it's been pointed out before that if every function of the mpc software could be mapped to an external controller it would be easy to download mpc software for nothing and map it out to any controller you have, reducing the value of the hardware.

I'd love to be proven wrong in this regard. Obviously any functionality would require the original mpc hardware to be plugged into the computer like an ilok device, but those are pretty easy to hack around as well aren't they?

Not if they make functions that are midi mapped locked to one assignment instead of taking over the function of a qlink or data wheel..

The hardware controllers are context based, if you are in sample mode, the q links work by page context.

With a midi controller you can only control specific parameters, (ie track one volume , track one insert vst parameter , track 2 volume , track 2 pan ) that would still give the hardware value.
