Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

For me the negatives have been the following:

No more vintage hack :(
Issues with loading old projects and having to re-set many parameters in order to have it comply with the new mixer setup.
Plug In Scanner Issues (crashes everytime in 64 bit mode even when I remove every single plug in and start from scratch)
Hybrid plug in crash/bug (although this is well known and being dealt with)

The positives are:

Nicer GUI
Automation (although this can be further refined I feel)
Less crashing when in normal use (excluding plug in scans of course)
Track explode (simply immense as it allows you to create quick, fast and sketch out an idea then BAM! exploded and everything on seperate channels)
32 virtual outs (I'd still utilize more believe it or not...yes I'm greedy)
The Mixer. There's no doubt about it things just sound much, much better now. Things can breathe and it's easier to create a balanced mix just with the MPC. Once you channel it through your DAW then it's all over (this is Reaper in my case)
There's also little tweaks within the software and how you do and see things that seem to make the creative process flow a lot easier.

Oh & of course the ability to utilize the full CPU power of your computer is much appreciated and a game changer.

A definite 8.5 out of 10 upgrade in my book and one that has set the Ren up nicely for the future.

Now, what I need is to control other parameters from an external controller so as to increase the MPC's live performance capabilities

I wonder if the plug-in scanner "BUG" is the cause of the so-called "Vintage Mode" Hack not working. :hmmm:

Honestly, the "vintage hack" should actually be implemented into the REN software anyway lol. The "hack" basically is a way to get the "vintage mode" to work as individual plug ins then a global effect.

I almost didn't use it because of insane crashes.

3/10.

You must read apprentice. :-D

To elaborate, Vintage modes on the ren can be switched on via the vintage mode buttons. IT was advertised and implied by akai that this was a hardware feature and not a software algorithm. Until someone found the plugins and inserted it as a normal plugin on each track.. Not really a hack, just tech gear junkies doing their thing and exposing/exploiting something akai should've of come clean with from the start.. I always thought the vintage mode feature was a lame feature "even if it was real" and that what they already have "plug ins" should just be included with the standard set of plug ins and everyone will be happy and over it. The vintage mode buttons can then be used for something more useful like some extra utility actions... i dunno...

Regarding 1.7

It hasn't crashed on me yet... It's annoying that the routing has to be reset because of the new mixer.
But direct record is awsome...
track explode...
The pgm edit stuff like being able to choose wether to edit multi zones, all , or current pad from hardware is great.
Ability to change filter and amp envelope type via window button/hardware..

but akai should fix it for when the day comes ;p
