Classic MPC workflow.

This is plausible for some... But can't really do this either though - I'm mixing in the DAW, don't mix in the MPC software at all. Because I haven't really used it much, I find it unnecessarily complex (track faders, program faders... meh). But admittedly that's on me more than likely. But either way, no way I'd choose to mix in the MPC software when I have a DAW. I apply effects, dynamics, etc all in the DAW world. To track in two passes means resetting all of my DAW tracks for the other "half" of the song - unless I'm missing something - heck educate me if I am.

Really NEED 32 STEREO VIRTUAL OUTS!!!!

Track 16 stereo channels into the DAW, recording them onto audio tracks.

Then track the other 9 stereo tracks into the DAW, recording them onto more audio tracks.

Then mix the 25 stereo tracks once they have been recorded onto audio tracks in the DAW.

?

Understood. Thought you were describing something differently. Makes sense, and I've done that in the past... it works, but it's like going back to the MPC 2000 days with 8 outs. Heck even the 5000 days... lol

But with 1.6 it was so much easier to just export each track as an audio file in one pass using the export feature. We need that back in 1.7.1. But even better... WE NEED 32 STEREO VIRTUAL OUTS!!!!

They will give us 32 stereo outs, them someone will want more, 32 will not be enough.

It isn't really like going back to a hardware MPC, 32 simultaneous outputs is way more than 8, and they are internal/virtual, and hopefully sample accurate.

For sure it needs individual track export, and more virtual outs, if that is possible, but you have to work with what is available at the moment, those things are not going to happen right away, unless they make it into 1.7.1.

But working like that isn't an ideal solution - you're crippled during the track creation process. Once you go above 16 stereo tracks at the moment you have to start doubling up outputs on your tracks which means any level adjustment between that point and the point of finishing the beat would have to be done within MPC software, defeating the whole point of the virtual outs into a DAW for most users.

You should be able to go from scratch in the mpc software to a completely mixed/mastered track in the DAW without switching inputs back and forth halfway through the process. I work the same way with reaper and mpc software and though I never go above 16 mpc tracks at the moment in my productions, the limit deserves to be lifted... and the option to output just a mono track would be very welcome as well, there's no reason for me to be outputting a stereo signals for drum hits or basslines...

I never said it was, I just offered a workaround within the current limitations of the software.

I didn't write the **** thing, don't blame me!

well I had to switch back to 1.6 because of the infamous plugin scanner crash to get my plugs scanned properly. Now i'm contemplating on upgrading back to 1.7 now that i read this smh...

hopefully they add 32 virtual outs by 1.7.1.

Im currently having problems!! This damn thing is consolidating all of my drums into one track again! I did what was told, to click explode tracks, but its not giving me the option to click on the button! HELP ME OUT!! I wasn't having this problem prior! I used to be able to separate the drums and now I don't know what I'm doing wrong!!

Are you trying to explode tracks with sequences in song mode or did you convert your song to a sequence and then select that sequence and then go to export and explode tracks?

I don't even use song mode, but the way I track my beats into logic may be helpful for you all. I use Soundflower (on mac) as a go between to record all my tracks directly into logic. Soundflower acts as a 64 channel "in the box" audio interface. So basically, I set the output of my MPC as Soundflower 64 ch and set my input of logic to Soundflower 64 ch. Open up 16 audio tracks in Logic and set the inputs in ascending order (Track 1 inputs 1-2 for stereo, Track 2 inputs 3-4, etc.) Save this as a template in logic. Now in MPC you can set the output of each track (or pad even) to the corresponding channel in Logic (my kick drum track output 1-2, Snare track output 3-4, etc). Now, record enable your used tracks in logic, hit record in logic, and hit play on the MPC. Voila, your simultaneously recording all your tracks in logic, separated by track.

ok you guys are making this harder then it really is....

back when they changed the way the mixer works. it changed the export.

For the original post:
I NOW prefer the new way. as hellfire post'
but before this i was a little annoyed i had to take an extra step. but i did it like this or drums..

still create your first drum pass the same way. {i usually build a kit all on one program.{no efx yet}}
after first track is recorded.. (no matter if its all sounds or just the kik) now in your program list.
(duplicate program to another track) and continue on your normal route of drum programming. basically creating a sep program per drum sound.
i would program a beat all one track.. copy it out per number of sounds {tracks} i have done in beat. then copy events to each program/track and then delete midi notes for separating sounds.

now the only difference when exporting your old way is, you have multiple drum programs. this is no burden on ram or cpu usage.
