I guess as long as we're on the topic, what do people think is the best time-stretcher out there for someone who doesn't have and doesn't want to get Pro Tools? I'm trying the demo on this IRcam Lab TS and I'm reasonably impressed, but not blown away.

They never would have added Hybrid 3 if they knew it was gonna spark shit like this. demanding plugins and features from products outside of InMusic ownership is pure fantasy... Even demanding Transfuser integration seems childish to me, yes Transfuser is developed by Air, but InMusic is a business, plugins don't cost nothing to develop so they have to recoup costs and turn profit, otherwise they go out of business and sack the MPC dev team...

So if you think Transfuser is the shit go out and buy it, I personally wouldn't use the plugin and wouldn't want it within the MPC software. If you want IRCAM quality timestretch go buy Mach5 and get used to using it. If you want timestretch that's good enough then go download Reaper, they just updated their elastique time stretch engine, plus you can switch between a bunch of different algorithms and find one that works best for the sample you're working with. Most Daws can do the same and also have good enough algorithms...

I use Reaper, as I said in the above post. It has a bunch of different algorithms (the new elastique 3 is good for drums/transient material, the old elastique 2 is better for tonal stuff and chords that might not have a lot of transients) and they have a bunch of other ones as well, they can all be tweaked to sound good for different purposes. You timestretch clips by holding alt and click dragging on the edge, in the clip properties (hit F2) you can change the time stretch settings.

I don't think there's ever going to be one smoking gun TS algorithm that processes everything perfectly. Like most audio processes TS works best when the person applying it is willing to tweak settings, as its totally dependant on what audio you're stretching and how far you're stretching it.

If you own Mach5 wtf are you on about MPK RAY. Why don't you ask Akai to include NI massive, oh yeah and every fabfilter plugin, and every waves plugin... Akai will add in the best timestretch that they can, do you not see how unrealistic it is for you to just put font size: 150 on and demand features from different products be integrated into the Ren???

And you actually bought a s61 keyboard!?!??? There's no font size small enough to hide that shame!
