Sampling from Serato DJ issues

My setup consists of a macbook pro with a 2.7 ghz dual core processor + 8gb of RAM, a Pioneer DDJSR (DJ controller for Serato DJ), and the MPC Studio. In the MPC software, I have the input set to my Pioneer DDJSR so that I can sample whatever I am playing in Serato DJ. When I begin a new session I will be able to sample from Serato DJ just fine, but at some point later on, the sampling quality ALWAYS degrades horribly and I'm not sure why. For example, let's say I sample a loop and hear that it sounds well, so I will lay it down into the song. But then I may find some other sounds that I will want to add to the mix. Well, when I continue on recording different samples, suddenly I will find that at some point my recorded audio has come out incredibly harsh (all sorts of crackling in the background and distorted audio, just plain bad) So then, I will have to close and reopen the MPC Software or Serato DJ until the sampling audio quality is back to normal....As you can imagine this is a HUGE setback in terms of workflow and is needless to say extremely frustrating Does anyone know maybe why this is happening? I'm thinking maybe it has something to do relating to the USB interface but not sure....Any help at all is greatly appreciated

I've found that when i switch the output in MPC Software from built-in output to Serato DJ (plays out of my guitar amplifier) the sampling audio quality does not degrade. It must be a problem with the built-in output audio driver but i have no idea why exactly...If anything i figured that the built-in output option would produce the cleanest audio for playback. Any ideas?

This issue usually happens when you have a different input and ouput device. MPC doesn't like using two interfaces at once.

How are your input and output devices set up? I just recently started using soundflower as my input device in MPC (while soundflower, itself, is using the built-in output for audio playback). Therefore as far as I know I'm not using the "built-in output" audio device option DIRECTLY with MPC software. Rather it is going through soundflower, and then the built-in output. As I'm flipping this record right now, it seems like the sampling quality is remaining consistent. Hope this fixes the problem and will keep you guys updated.

damn this kind of sucks..seeing as i am trying to get serato or traktor in the near future ;(

Pituchez, Although I'm still not sure the cause of the problem, I believe at this point it's safe to say that by using soundflower (in my case) as the output audio, there is no degraded audio quality when it comes to sampling. Similar to what Hellfire has said it's possible that the MPC software has issues with using Serato DJ as the input audio and the built-in output audio at the same time.

No, having the audio input set to Serato DJ is necessary to sample from Serato, without having to use any sort of audio routing software.

so have seratos and disable asio? atleast while i record the sample into mpc?

Damn this is concerning. I wanted to sell my Pioneer DVJ-1000 and buy Serato.

yea. ill figure it out when the day comes i guess. i still dotn knwo if im gona get serato or traktor. the traktor mixer is way cheaper ..

Get a book or an online course instead.

Serato DJ is incredibly nice. Even though it's a common feature with other DJ software, it's really nice to be able to set multiple cue points within a song so whenever you hear something that captures your interest, you can always refer back to it later to sample. Also, Serato saves all your cue points even when you reopen the software

Btw the audio degradation still happens every once in a while even with soundflower chosen as the audio input (maybe up to 2 times in a session).....which is annoying, but it's not completely devasting. Just have to reopen both softwares and deal with it for now
