MPC 1000 System Error while formatting?

Hey, first time poster here.. I've used an mpc 500 before but I just bought an mpc 1000, I tried to format the internal drive and it just says system error, wont mount to computer either.. checked the CF slot and there is 1 broken pin but I feel like this has nothing to do with the formatting problem.. is it dead? do I call the dude who sold it to me and give him an earful?

Also, would it be easiest for me to just ignore the internal memory and buy myself a hard drive?

no sh1t.. If you talking about your CF than yes, this 1 pin ****s up everything,
you can connect a HD thru HDM-10 kit or CF reader replacement.

true.. I think I'm gonna go with the HD. but whats getting me is the fact I cant format the internal memory, I just cop a system error.. any idea?

You can't format Internal Mem, you can only replace it, by overwriting. I has nothing to do with CF, HD, RAM.
