Recording raps on mpc1000, no dice?

Whats really? I am currently without a laptop or any computer for that matter. I have heard people say the mpc1000 is not designed to be rapped into.

Why not?

Because it does not have a microphone.

Right? It is an all in one rap box... Is it just that people have been so accustomed to computers? I personally hate them. Mpc = dope. Computer = nerd........

I'd be interested to hear about anyone doing this and how they get good results.

I figure some mics must work great, I will try some but I suspect having a separate mic pre and maybe compression going into the MPC and leaving the MPC's gain at minimum would get the best results.

I'm gonna try an SM 58 straight in and see how the preamp fares. I imagine it is designed for common mics.

People do it with the ASR, What would be cool is to use both ins and record a stereo vocal in the mpc. spacing the mics can do cool things.

yup, I'm not much into recording, but you would have to be as loud as **** without some sort of amplification before hitting MPC inputs, and yes rec gain all way down.

I'm curious about the internal pre and optimizing of its sound.

I'm gonna keeps tips as I find em.

From what I can tell it only introduce noise. Same thing as recording with no gain at all and than normalizing/ bringing up volume afterwards in edit.
