MPC 1000 and Ableton [Question]

What's up I have an Akai MPC 1000 and I would like to use it as a midi controller in Ableton, just a midi controller yes. lol

All I have is a USB-MIDI cable.

Can anyone instruct me as to what to do ? I'd like to use the MPC to trigger pads in drum rack mainly

hook midi into your computer and drum away

yeah plug the usb into computer, The conputer's midi in to the MPC's midi out A. Set te MPC's track midi channel to 1A.

In the computer, if your midi cable needs a driver install it. Check in Ableton under preferences / midi devices if the midi ins and outs are available. If so ensble them on that page.

Load a vst onto a track, set it's channel to 1 and hit the MPC pads.
