Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

A little early on this topic, but since the Linnstrument has dropped in limited quantities, I want to check to see if anyone has it/has linked it to the MPC Ren.

The main thing I would be interested in would be the ability to have full access to all of your pad banks at the same time. Like having banks A-H all lined up across the Linnstrument's grid so you can jam on them all simultaneously without having to toggle between pad banks. Maybe I'm just dreaming but this would be killer!

wtf..how wold u be able to jam out on all pads if mpc only has 16?!

*edit

damn..i just checked it out..

that does look sick..

i was thinking of getting a launchpad to be able to load up way more samples on way more pads..kind of a pain in the ass and kills my creativity a bit when i have to click on another pad bank if im trying to see what something on pad a1 sounds with something on pad b5 etc.etc

 Yes, I think it is very early for that...

Hello from Roger Linn--

Before the general release of LinnStrument, we're selling a small number of units to residents of the San Francisco bay area. If you live in the bay area and are interested, please contact us by replying to this email.

If you're not in the San Francisco bay area, we expect to start accepting pre-orders from U.S. customers in the next few weeks for delivery in the late November timeframe. We'll be sending another email in advance to let you know when.

Check the FAQ and manual, if you haven't already...

It isn't really clear, but it seems like you should be able to set it up so that it sends enough notes to correspond to all the MPC pad banks. If using the MPC drum sample programs, you might need to setup the MPC pads chromatically, via the editing the text file method until there is pad MIDI note assignment editing available in the software, to make it correspond correctly in terms of the Linnstrument pad layout.

There are different modes, but seems like it needs to respond to Poly Pressure to make the most out of it. No idea if MPC Software does or not, at least from it's internal sample engine, but I would guess that plugins should, if they are able to respond to it.

The OS is open source, so maybe there is a way to change the note layout to correspond better to the MPC pad layout, if it is not laid out well already, via reprogramming the OS.

I don't know why he didn't put a load of sounds or a basic synth inside so it could have been a standalone instrument. :hmmm:

Linn did an interview w/Sonic State and said he is coming out with different form factors. I am hoping one of them will have a sound engine as well, with that said I would like to get one but will try and wait for others to work out the issues.

I just got my linnstrument and have only had time to use it on my ipad air 2. Wow playing string instruments on garageband is fun. I've also got a chance to play synths on korg gadget. For drums pads the pads are very responsive. I don't have a Ren, but any questions you have let me know.

Cool man. Congrats and thanks for the heads up.

I'm thinking hooking a Launchpad Pro up to my Ren is going to be the way to go for me, because my main concern is having access to more than 16 notes at a time without having to switch pad banks. Looks like the Pro will be able to control MIDI from the MPC. Fingers crossed...

I'm going to try loading up all the pads on ableton drum racks and see how that works this weekend.

The next experiment is to see how the 3d pad controls my analog keys, then it would give me more capability to change the parameters of the joystick controller.
