Filter numbers.

The filters are numbered 1-8. What do the numbers mean?

someone can probably give you a more detailed response but it is referring to the amount of poles for each filter.

each pole cuts I think 6db per octave.

simply put the higher the number of poles will give a steeper cut off at the cut off frequency while the lower pole will give a more gradual filter.



^^ this may help you understand. think of 'A' as a one pole filter and 'E' as an eight pole filter

Are you talking about the number of poles in the filter, e.g. Lowpass 1 Pole, Lowpass 2 Pole, etc.?

Basically, they refer to the slope of the filter, how sharply it cuts off the sound above or below the filter cutoff point.

More correctly, it is a lot more complicated than that, the poles refer to points in the mathematical equations used to represent the filter response, I don't really understand it.

That's right, they represent the "order" of a filter. While "order" is a technical term, the pole is a mathematical one. They both nonetheless tell the same. phx_chronic is right.

so you would apply an effect then choose one of the 1-8 poles and that will affect the other plugin?

he was talking about the filters in the 'program edit' section. but all low pass, band pass and high pass filters work the same way.

oh and btw it isn't really 1-8 ... it's 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 poles...

yea i nkow what filters he is talking about..

but do they affect the sample? or the effect put on the sample?!

because they dont come out when i try to add them on the main edit program box those dont show up.

In the prog edit you put a filter on a pad. It only filters that pad.

I use them sometimes instead of using an eq plugin to cut down on the number of plugins.
