ANYTHING.

expressing frustration for lack of uses an intended item had toward ones expectations is understandable.

throwing your hands in air and running off crying that "I just can't do it!" is some baby ****.

calligraphy sounds about right. until his pen tip breaks. then ohh god the calligraphy forums will hear all about it.

thanks for bring this **** thread back.

Very mature, man. Salute.

I don't know if you were using the Ren since the beginning, but a lot of us have, and we basically worked for Akai for free reporting bugs continuously here and at http://community.akaipro.com/akai_professional for months, even years. Nothing Akai promised worked like it should have. It was hell. A lot of people threw their Ren in the garbage. I pursued and persevered. I transferred 50 beats from my 1000 to my Ren. It took months. You know why? Because the Ren couldn't open 1000 files properly! Everything was f__d up. Everything. (But they promised the contrary when they first sold the Ren, though!)

At one point, when all you do is workarounds and bug reports, creativity eventually dies.

I will probably go back to making beats at one point. But not for now. Paper and ink are far more reliable than CPUs, plug-ins, bad workflow interfaces, OS's that aren't compatible, Akai that takes AGES to repair bugs, etc.

I can't wait to see what kind of out-of-context-idiotic-immature comments you will reply next. Especially after your dose of caffeine.

Big up.

That's a shame because I thought you made some nice stuff.

This video cracked me up when I first saw it.

Thanks for your support, Coz. That's all I needed.

I really DID have a lot of fun. It will come back... But my baby girl is coming soon! So it will have to wait at least another year.

I hear OS 1.7 settled a lot of the bugs we were all trying to get fixed. That's really cool ;)

ok coffee is down.

and i still see you were crying. i have had the Ren about three days after release. and picked up the studio a month later. and yes there was some frustration.

but "i can't make beats on this" never came to mind.

let see because it didn't ask me to duplicate sample before applying an effect i wanted.
"i just can't make beats on this!"
cause i can't reorder tracks "i just can't make beats on this!"
cause i have to touch mouse to copy seq. "i just can't make beats on this!"
cause there is no bypass button, and i have to turn off the chain by the button on the channel strip.... "i just can't make beats on this!"

not one thing on your list would cause me or the rest of us to say or think "i just can't make beats on this!"

i know this has been said by many, many times.. but if it doesn't work for you go back to what did. sell your Ren and get the most customized out 1000 your 700 bucks can get you.

the pen tip was unnecessary sarcasm. good luck. and congrats on the little seed.

I know what you mean. I have had the Ren for maybe a week and I have a set of issues myself. The main issue being that the main outs do not get noticed on my Octa Capture's inputs. In other words, I can only monitor the MPC Ren with all other machines being routed to the octa capture muted. The only signal I see is from my main output. I can not gauge an accurate audio recording this way. Also, it seems everytime I change something on the software, (IE drag a sample to a pad, change a q link,) I'll be all set to continue and with one turn of the jog wheel or mouse click it all erases and I'm back to square one. Another shitty thing is that my salesman informed me that it can be used as a standalone hardware piece however, when I fired it up it was like I paid 1200 dollars for a light show. Nothing would even turn on until the software was installed. Then when I finally thought I had it figured out, I go into Sonar to track my beat and the inputs, (1&2, which the Ren is routed to) do not appear as an option to record from. WTF? I feel I want to drive my head into a nail standing straight up on a table. I dont get how some machines were easier to figure out when I had no experience 15 year ago, yet this is advertised as extremely simple to use, and it gives so many headaches. Dammit!! It is definitely not going to defeat me though. I've came too far to not succeed with it. Its just one of the harder pieces I've worked with. I will make bangers with it and it's supporting cast.

Am I tripping or did we have a shortcut key for switching between Draw / Select mode in the early versions of Ren?
I wouldn't like to always have to click on the icon to change it; would love to have a key for it (how about the key to the left of number 1?)
